PepperDash Gives Away an iPad
Congratulations to David Diamond, of Diamond Sound Productions, Lynchburg, VA, winner of our InfoComm10 Apple iPad give-away. Folks who came to see our kiosk in the Crestron GUI Gallery at InfoComm10 were invited to drop off their business card for a chance to win a new iPad. Visitors were also treated to a fantastic new layout this year, complements of Crestron and InfoComm. The new corral-style layout featured vast space, tons of seating and demos from 18 of the industry's best independent programming companies. Thanks for coming by to see us!
PepperDash a CleanTech Open Semi-finalist
We were delighted to hear that PepperDash had advanced as a regional semi-finalist in the 2010 Cleantech Open Business Competition. Winnowed from more than 60 entries, PepperDash is one of 16 Northeast semi-finalists who will compete for three slots in the national finals in November. PepperDash is competing with an energy management software product that’s driven by an intelligent, automated analysis of occupancy patterns. The CleanTech Open competition includes extensive mentoring and education for participants, exposure to potential partners and investors, as well as a chance to win cash and professional services from competition sponsors. PepperDash has become a dealer for Autonomic Controls, Inc. which engineers digital media solutions, including award winning modules for controlling Apple-TV media servers, Windows Media Center, iTunes, Pandora, and Sirius XM internet radio. According to PepperDash President/CEO, Howard Nunes, "This approach enables us to resell well-designed and market-vetted productized code, without having to go through the designing and vetting process ourselves.It's much more efficient for us to partner with them than to reinvent the wheel. A draft sustainability rating system for AV and electronic systems, under wraps until today, will be unveiled at InfoComm 2010. The Sustainable Technology Environments Performance (STEP) rating system is the product of work done by the InfoComm AV Sustainability Task Force, of which PepperDash President/CEO Howard Nunes is a member. The current draft framework of the STEP rating system will be revealed at an open session Friday, June 11, 10:30 - noon in Las Vegas Convention Center room N252. For the second consecutive year, PepperDash made it into the top 20 of the Inner City 100. Published by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) and Bloomberg BusinessWeek, 2010 Inner City 100 is a list of the fastest-growing inner-city U.S. companies. Founded by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter, The Inner City 100 program recognizes successful urban companies as role models for entrepreneurship, innovative business practices and job creation in America’s cities. The rankings for each company were announced at the Inner City 100 Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Boston, MA. Winners attended a two-day event featuring seminars for Inner City 100 CEO's at Harvard Business School, a reception at the Boston Public Library and an Awards Gala that drew more than 800 guests.Katie Couric Tours NYC Situation Room
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently demonstrated the City Hall Situation Room for CBS’s Katie Couric. The Situation Room control system was programmed by PepperDash and featured in a recent Crestron case study. Ms. Couric was interviewing the Mayor in connection with a recent bombing attempt in New York’s Times Square, just a few blocks from PepperDash’s New York address. Boston’s biggest newspaper, The Boston Globe, today profiled PepperDash and four other Massachusetts companies named to the 2010 Inner City 100 list. Compiled by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), founded by Harvard Business School Professor Michael Porter, the list includes the 100 fastest growing companies who are headquartered in urban areas. This is the second year in a row that PepperDash has been named to the list. “Once again, I was thrilled to hear that PepperDash made it onto the InnerCity100,” said PepperDash President/CEO, Howard Nunes. The InfoComm 100 is an executive-level, three-day invitation-only meeting of 100 leaders from all sectors of the Audio/Video industry. This annual gathering focuses discussion on the current state of the market, future prospects, emerging technologies, challenges and opportunities. PepperDash President/CEO Howard Nunes has been named Chair of the newly-created CAIP Advisory Board. Crestron recently established the Crestron Authorized Independent Programmer (CAIP) Advisory Board in an effort to continually improve its relationship with the independent programming community – one of Crestron’s most valuable assets, and to better involve CAIPs in new technology opportunities. “We’re in a time of major economic and technological change, which has created considerable stress in our industry,” said Nunes “It was a brilliant move on Crestron’s part to create this forum for discussion, and I am delighted to be part of it.” Joining Nunes in the group are representatives from eight other CAIP firms, as well as two Crestron employees.PepperDash in ProAV on Green AV

Crestron recently published a case study on the New York City Hall Situation and Command Center. This high tech communications center features 15 racks of equipment and an extensive Crestron control system programmed by PepperDash. During emergencies, the Mayor and his staff can connect with the White House or the Department of Homeland Security via a highly secure IP-based video conferencing or route a number of real-time video feeds from over 200 sources.
